About Me

I'm adventurous when I want to be, but I'm just as happy watching a movie at home. I'm married to my best friend who makes me laugh on a regular basis & a son that makes me happier then he will ever know. I strongly feel that the most important thing in life is your relationship with Christ and your relationship with others.

It's always something...

**disclaimer: This is a little heavier than my normal rants and raves. If you're voting for Obama you might want to skip over this one :) **

Last night John & I watched the RNC speeches and thought they were well done. However, today all I hear about is how rude/mean/hateful/vicious those speeches were...

It's always something. Palin isn't experienced enough, she can't balance family and politics, she's too conservative & now due to her speech she's pegged as being "hateful." Were jabs taken, yes! Was Obama attacked, NO! His experience & leadership was attacked and rightfully so. Everything that was said last night was in RESPONSE to what attacks have been thrown at McCain and Palin. Those that actually admit it's a good speech say it's not her, but her speech writers. Right, b/c no politicians have those! It's aways something isn't it!

Here is a clip of the response emailed to Obama campaign supporters from his campaign manager, David Plouffe.

"You know that despite what John McCain and his attack squad say, everyday people have the power to build something extraordinary when we come together. Make a donation of $5 or more right now to remind them."

I'm sorry, are you a televangelist!? What a dramatic sentence filled with words like, "attack squad, everyday people, build something extraordinary, come together" with a money tag line at the end. It reminded me of a drug commercial where everything is so beautiful and happy until that person comes on at the end quickly reading the side effects. "may cause nausea, severe headaches, abdomen pain....and kill you." Maybe if we say it fast, no one will notice. Why don't you just say, "screw them, give us money." It's the same thing! Besides that, what are you "building" & "coming together" for...I'm not even sure Obama knows at this point! Everything about Obama's campaign is so flowery and sugar coated...it's all fluff & based off emotions. I'm truly shocked at how many people are eating up this stuff! Blinded by his rhetoric instead of the truth and fact about who he is, what experience he has, what his plan for this change really is!

I felt the same way when I watched the "debate" hosted by Rick Warren. I watched Obama again and again stumble over the facts, over actually answering the questions! He tried to please everyone except his speech writers weren't there to help him. He looked pitiful on that stage! I want a President that can make a decision & knows where he stands on issues. Not "it's above my pay grade!" I wanted to....ok so I did....yell at the TV at him to "answer the question." I don't need your answer to agree with me...in fact I'm not expecting it to so there is no need to try and appease me with talking in a circle. If we totally disagree, that's ok...just say something. It wasn't until that night that I truly got confidence in McCain. He spoke with wisdom, experience and confidence. He often knew his answer before Warren was done with the question. why? Because he's been around long enough to KNOW what the questions will prob. be & most importantly he KNOWS his stance on the topic. Warren was able to ask McCain more questions b/c he actually answered them! Imagine that :) Obama's gang demanded that McCain must have known the questions before hand...it's always something. If you haven't seen this, I encourage you to go to cnn.com or youtube.com and check it out.

I know I jumped around in this post & most of it prob. didn't make much sense b/c of it, but I had to just vent for a second. Overall, my point is that I'm proud to be voting for what Giuliani calls "substance over style.". I'm proud to be one in the crowd that can see through the "fluff." I'm not voting on McCain b/c he's a republican...I'm voting for him b/c he's the better candidate by a long shot. If you don't agree with me I am ok with that. As long as the reasons you're voting for Obama isn't because of his charisma or to "create history."

Here is a link to an article I read in support of Palin's speech. I thought it was written well & it's worth your time to read.

I agree with you whole heartedly!! I too was screaming at the TV at that point!!!! I mean being the President of the United States means that person will have to make decisions/choices that affect millions and millions of people. I wonder which ones he is going to say is above his pay grade! Oh, I could go on and on about Obama and the oxymorons that surround him! Maybe I'll post my own blog about it :-)!

Sweet little, Lisa! Who knew you had all this in you?

Might I offer:

So you're saying that should McCain kick out, you'll be able to sleep with Palin at the wheel?

I was, too, watched the Willow Creek "forum" and it actually annoyed me that McCain had a ready answer for everything. Home court advantage in my opinion, but that's totally okay.

I think it is above my pay grade, too, to definitively answer when life begins. We can research until cows are cloned about when life begins, but no one can know for CERTAIN. Did he stumble around? Obviously he did, but I had to give him props for stepping in the lion's den. Rick Warren is not the lion in this metaphor. He's a rockstar.

Whew! I feel better! Love ya, pal.

Discussion, I love it!!! ;) Thanks for your comment!

I actually would be ok with Palin behind the wheel…she has the same amount if not more experience then Obama in my opinion.

Sure, no one knows for certain when life begins, but we certainly can have an opinion about it….especially when running for president knowing the question could come up. I’m ok with him saying life doesn’t begin until that child is running around the room. :) I disagree, but I’d rather him have some kind of answer then saying he’s unqualified to answer.

I’ll give them both credit for the forum…McCain isn’t Mr. Conservative. I loved that it was not a typical debate where they can hear each others answers & end up yelling at each other to the point no one can hear either of them speak. I’ll also give credit to Obama for going on O’Reilly, but I still don’t think he should be president. :) This will be an interesting election to say the least!

On another note…I absolutely loved Luke in all the pictures taken at Rachel’s birthday party. He was cracking me up posing in every single one of them! Hopefully he won’t be graduating at Lee before I get to see you guys again! Miss ya!

I feel ya, LT. It will most certainly be interesting. Just so you know, I'm not a completely decided voter. I just fear that McCain is too similar to what we have now. Granted, I'm a GB fan in many ways. I just think the world will like him better as a PAST President. I think whomever takes office will find just how much integrity he did honestly have. I'd like to think that Obama would be challenged by it, and I'm really curious to see what a new face would do with the wheel.

You KNOW this is what I'm eating, sleeping, and breathing at Lee right now gettin' those kiddies to the polls. You miss that don't you? :)

I agree that the world is over GB & ready for him to be a past president & I can understand that. My biggest fear is that people will just assume McCain is the same guy when he’s not. I think he tried to show the world he is not with Palin…a fresh new face…a “Washington Outsider.” I can respect and understand people being attracted to Obama b/c he is such a new face…but when it comes down to it for me it’s more scary then exciting.

I know exactly what you’re eating, sleeping and breathing. We now present… “A Song & Dance” by Merica. If you need me to donate some free sodas to lure them in, let me know! Ah, what a college kid will do for a piece of candy and a coke! :) I hope it’s going great!!
