About Me

I'm adventurous when I want to be, but I'm just as happy watching a movie at home. I'm married to my best friend who makes me laugh on a regular basis & a son that makes me happier then he will ever know. I strongly feel that the most important thing in life is your relationship with Christ and your relationship with others.

Visitors!

My trip to San Antonio was great. That was only due to the fact I stayed with Jessica & Van Oldham instead of some lonely hotel! They made my week fly by & are great company! They don't read my blog, but I thought I'd say THANKS anyway! :)

I returned on Friday to prepare for a house full. John's uncle and aunt, Kim & Steve, came with their four kids for the weekend (10, 7, 5 & almost 3). The two older boys are into wrestling & there was a tournament at Cleveland High School.

They arrived pretty late Friday night, but we were still able to hang out a little before bed.

Saturday after book club, I joined the family at the tournament and was able to see Brandon wrestle. He took second in the "free style" division and wasn't able to wrestle in the Greco division since everyone in his weight class went home. Caleb got second overall in both divisions, but I didn't get to see him. It was at this tournament I realized I can never be a mom...or at least a mom that lets her kids participate in anything. My competitive spirit came out at the wrestling match & I could barely keep myself in the stands...and they aren't even my kids! Lord help!

Half way through the tournament John and I took the two little ones home. I wanted to take them to the Discovery museum, but we weren't sure we would have enough time. We decided to take them on a walk with the dogs, which ended with Blake on John's shoulders and me juggling Brooke's shoes, jacket and both dogs. We were quite a site to see! We then decided to give Blake a haircut. He hates haircuts & his parents don't have the time to wrestle him down and do it with the other 3 kids running around so we thought we would help them out. Let's just say it took both of us, a fish net & pretend fish (actually rocks) to accomplish the task!

Sunday we ventured to the park before they headed back home. I couldn't get the video of Brandon wrestling uploaded, but here are a few pictures from the weekend. I was pretty bad at taking pictures this time.

I'll leave you with some wise parenting wisdom from John. He said this to me as he laid flat on his back in the floor of our bedroom while I had the two little ones in the bath. "Kids are a lot like dogs...you just have to wear them out!" The only problem here is I'm pretty sure they wore John out first!

I always knew John was a quick learner. He's right on. I love those days (sometimes) when I know they are going to crash when it's bedtime.
