About Me

I'm adventurous when I want to be, but I'm just as happy watching a movie at home. I'm married to my best friend who makes me laugh on a regular basis & a son that makes me happier then he will ever know. I strongly feel that the most important thing in life is your relationship with Christ and your relationship with others.

Houston TX

I was in Houston TX last week for work and thought about sharing a few highlights from the trip.
1. I enjoyed a nice cobb salad on the way from MSP to IAH in first class & wondered how they get such good food on an airplane. Seriously, this salad was better than anything you could buy at the airport plus it came with fresh fruit and anything to drink you wanted....it was fresh and on an airplane, did I mention that?

2. I completely fell out of the shower in the hotel! I was standing with one foot on each side of the tub trying to change the shower nossel (the person before me put it on massage). All of a sudden I was falling flat on my back and hit my head on the bathroom door! Yes, I saw stars, but didn't pass out. It was kinda scary just because if I would have really hurt myself, who would know!? You tall people haven't ever had to experience anything like this..... it stayed on massage the whole week.

3. I was supposed to get into Rochester at 12pm and had been up since 4:30am to find out that northwest overbooked & I was one of the lucky few bumped. To make a long story short, I was rerouted to Detroit and didn't get into RST until 4:30pm. On the up side when I called to complain (rare for me to do, but if I told you the whole story you would agree with me) I was given a $100 voucher to spend on my next ticket purchase!

4. I went to the Galleria in Houston and got some great deals! Shopping has become my greatest weakness when I travel since it's so easy to do when you're alone...it's become my comfort food.

5. One of the guys at the front desk made my room key able to access the penthouse floor, which gave me access to a continental breakfast! I love eating for free! Thank you to my Houston bff.

6. I ate at this empanada place close to the hotel that would rock your world. I'm glad I didn't eat there until the last night or i would have eaten there every night & gained about 20 pounds. One of the dessert empanadas was filled with ghirardelli chocolate. The other was filled with fresh apples, caramel & a little bit of heaven. Did I mention that although shopping is my new comfort food...it doesn't replace me actually eating everything in sight when I'm on the road.
7. I looked like a wet rat going into doctors offices thanks to the 90 degree weather with lots of humidity. It was that kind of day where you walk outside and feel the makeup running off your face. I looked rough. The highlight of each night was putting my sweat soaked hair in a ponytail, wearing shorts and a t-shirt with flip flops and eating dinner outside by the pool. My only company was "Breaking Dawn" the last book of the twilight series. I started it on the plane headed to TX and finished it before I got on the plane to come home...it sure would have been nice to have during my layover in Detroit. I'm depressed the series is over.
8. If I could have spent the same amount of money that I did on tolls at the Galleria, I would have bought the whole mall. It's like FL down there!

9. I ate Chick-Fil-A for lunch almost every day. I had sweet tea every time!

10. Traffic was as bad as you would imagine it to be in Houston. It didn't help that there was an offshore technology conference that added 200,000 extra people to the city! This is the biggest conference & money maker the city gets each year. I survived, but road rage ran through my veins the whole time! I sat in the middle of an intersection at a dead stop while the traffic light changed 3x before I moved an inch. Small towns have so many advantages!
